SMITHSONIAN CHANNEL.
STAR TREK,
THE SCIENCE
OF SCIENCE FICTION
Details.
A high-tech custom booth at Star Trek: Mission New York served as a launchpad for the Smithsonian Channel’s documentary Building Star Trek.
Fans had access to an advance screening of the documentary, followed by a panel discussion with four of the scientists featured in the film. On the main convention floor, Smithsonian Channel’s booth engaged attendees with 3D printed mini phaser guns and short “Trek Talks” about the original Star Trek series.
We also ran a national sweepstakes to promote the film and its presence at Star Trek: Mission New York. The winners got a trip to New York with two VIP tickets to the convention and the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum’s Starfleet Academy Experience.

How far did we take the enterprise?
Savvy Star Trek fans, like Star Trek: Mission New York’s attendees, were thrilled to learn about the scientific stars behind the camera and catch new facts about the series. Their gratitude showed.
